Establishment of High-Level Committee on Uniform Civil Code (UCC): The Government of Madhya Pradesh has officially constituted a high-level committee to examine the feasibility and implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) within the state. Following the trajectory of states like Uttarakhand, the government has actively invited public suggestions and input to ensure a participatory approach to legal reforms regarding personal laws.

Removal of the Two-Child Norm for Government Employees: In a significant administrative reform, the Madhya Pradesh government has abolished the "two-child" restriction for state government employees. Previously, individuals with more than two children (born after January 26, 2001) were ineligible for government service or promotions. This change updates the Madhya Pradesh Civil Services (General Conditions of Service) Rules, 1961, expanding eligibility for thousands of aspirants.

Classification of Heatwaves as Natural Disasters: Madhya Pradesh has officially recognized heatwaves as a state-specific "Natural Disaster." This designation is critical for disaster management as it authorizes the state to utilize the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) for providing ex-gratia assistance to victims, implementing mitigation strategies, and funding emergency medical responses during extreme temperature events.

Supreme Court Verdict on Lokayukta and RTI: The Supreme Court of India has struck down a state notification that previously exempted the Special Police Establishment (SPE) of the Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta from the purview of the Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2005. The Court ruled that the SPE is an investigative agency for corruption and does not fall under the "intelligence or security" exemptions provided under Section 24(4) of the RTI Act.

Public Input Strategy for Legislative Reform: To ensure constitutional and social alignment, the MP government has launched a dedicated portal and communication channels for citizens to submit feedback on the UCC implementation. This move aims to balance diverse tribal and religious customs with the proposed unified legal framework for marriage, divorce, and inheritance.
