To be eligible for the Bihar Student Credit Card Yojana, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Domicile: The applicant must be a permanent resident of Bihar state.
  • Educational Qualification: The student must have passed Class 12 (Intermediate) from a recognized board or institution.
  • Age Limit: The applicant's age should not be more than 25 years at the time of applying for the loan.
  • Admission Status: The student must have secured admission or be in the process of enrolling in a higher education course at an educational institution recognized by the concerned regulatory agency of Bihar or other state/central government.
  • Course Type: The loan is available for a wide array of general higher education courses and various professional/technical courses such as BA, B.Sc, B.Com, B.Tech, MBBS, MBA, BCA, MCA, Polytechnic, ITI, Nursing, Law, Hotel Management, and more.
  • No Dual Benefit: If the applicant already has a degree of one level, the same level of degree will generally not be covered under this scheme, with an exception for technical or managerial courses. The student must not be receiving any other allowance, scholarship, or education loan for the same course.
  • Household Exclusions/Income Limit: As per recent guidelines, there is no specific income restriction for the family. However, the scheme is primarily intended to assist students who genuinely require financial support for their studies, reflecting its aim to serve financially deprived students.
