To be eligible for the MP Ladli Behna Yojana, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Domicile: Must be a permanent resident of Madhya Pradesh.
- Gender: Only women are eligible to apply.
- Marital Status: Must be married, which includes widows, divorced women, and abandoned women. Unmarried women are generally not eligible.
- Age Limit: Must be between 21 and 60 years of age as of January 1 of the calendar year of application. (Note: Some sources indicate 23-60 years for initial launch, but 21-60 is now widely cited.)
- Family Income: The annual family income (self-declared combined income of the family) must be less than ₹2.5 lakh.

- Families owning more than 5 acres of irrigated land.
